Create your calendar!
An online participatory project of Song Dong: 36 Calendars presented by Asia Art Archive

Conceived and initiated during his Asia Art Archive residency (October 2011-January 2012), Beijing-based artist Song Dong spent over a year realising 36 Calendars, his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong.

For the exhibition opening on 21 January 2013, 432 participants were invited to collaborate with Song by adding to, changing, or editing each of the 432 months from 36 annual wall calendars hand-drawn by the artist.

On view during the exhibition, these singular creations relayed personal memories of a diverse group of individuals over a 36-year period between 1978 and 2013, and forming another layer to Song's intention for 36 Calendars to evoke individual experience through the dual lens of art and socio-political history.

AAA invites you to continue Song Dong: 36 Calendars by creating and sharing your own print and online versions.
