Dear Art, What are Art Book Bags?

AAA Public Programmes Curator Ingrid Chu explores the international phenomenon of the 'art book bag' in a short history of the art book bag (and the things that go in them). Using the last 15 years since AAA's inception as a guide, the exhibition surveys the popularity of the art book bag and 'the things that go in them'—AAA collection materials, art publications, magazines, clothing, accessories, and ephemera—through an exhibition, zine, talk, and invited contributions to AAA’s e-journal turned blog, Field Notes.

AAA hosts an exhibition tour (6pm); talk on artist publications and the changing modes of knowledge production and circulation influencing recent art in Asia with Hong Kong-based artists Clara Cheung of C&G Artpartment and Sonja Ng, curator Ko Sin Tung, and Museum of Modern Art Bibliographer and New York Art Book Fair programmer David Senior (7pm); and reception (8pm) on Thu, 22 Oct 2015

15 Invitations for 15 Years is supported by the S. H. Ho Foundation Limited, the C. K. & Kay Ho Foundation, and The Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The programme is part of the ADC 20th Anniversary Celebration Series. Special thanks to Hani Charaf, Kemistry Design; and Spring Workshop.
