Closed-door Workshop II

In collaboration with: Mohile Parikh Centre

The second workshop for Asia Art Archive’s publications project was held in July 2013 in Mumbai, in collaboration with Mohile Parikh Centre for the Arts. With the participation of art historians, critics, curators, artists, and teachers who specialise in and contribute to regional language debates in Indian art, the focus of the Mumbai workshop was to identify intellectual trends and critical positions around the idea of ‘vernacular’ and regional art histories. The workshop served as an intellectually stimulating platform from which to discuss the regional specificities in the art field, and the role multi-lingual readers of Indian art can play. The day-long workshop was led via a presentation by AAA Researchers Sabih Ahmed and Sneha Ragavan, with discussions moderated by AAA Board Chair Jane DeBevoise.
