Hong Kongism

Over the last decade, an increased awareness of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and local identity have developed alongside ambitious cultural goals as evidenced by major projects like the West Kowloon Cultural District . As we prepare for what some may describe as a cultural renaissance, and as Hong Kong’s art scene gains increasing international attention, many struggle to define the distinct character of Hong Kong art. Three conversations will address how the political and cultural awakening in Hong Kong has manifested in the work of the city’s cultural practitioners, while attempting to identify the essence of the Hong Kong condition and its impact on the work being produced here.
