Lee Weng Choy talked about the artist, Lim Tzay Chuen, whose work will be featured in the Singapore Pavilion at the 2005 Venice Biennale. Lee also gave some background to the impending Singapore Biennale, which is scheduled to coincide with the annual World Bank and IMF meetings that the island-city is hosting in 2006.

Lee Weng Choy is on the Asia Art Archive Academic Advisory Board; he is an art critic and artistic co-director of The Substation arts centre in Singapore. His essays on contemporary art and Singapore include, 'Authenticity, Reflexivity & Spectacle; or, the Rise of New Asia is not the End of the World?(Positions: East Asia Cultures Critique, 2004)' and 'Just What Is it that Makes the Term Global-Local So Widely Cited, Yet So Annoying?' (Over Here: International Perspectives on Art and Culture, New Museum and MIT Press, 2004).

Lee Weng Choy is in Hong Kong as part of the 'Bilateral Cultural Exchange Project' of The Substation and Para/Site, funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the National Arts Council, Singapore. The exhibition opening will be held at Para/Site on Thursday 2nd June, 2005.
