Bumping into Each Other at a Crossroad in Life

Asia Art Archive and Art Promotion Office co-present the Artist Talk Series for 2009-2010.

Two artists
A Hong Konger whose English is better than Chinese; A ‘Dong Guanese’ who barely makes it into the Guangzhou circle.
A Hong Kong artist whose work is considered senseless, even to the people of Hong Kong; A Dong Guan artist who did well at school, but is considered a slacker by his friends because he did not translate that success into becoming a businessman.
The two souls enjoy rummaging through forgotten trivia, extracting proverbs from petty matters.
They cross paths just beyond the Shenzhen-Guangzhou Super-highway, chatting about art and life, babbling about themselves and others, affecting each other at the edge of the Pearl River Delta…

About the artists
Magdalen Wong received her BFA in General Sculptural Studies at Maryland Institute College of Art, 2003, and her MFA in Sculpture with a Trustee Merit scholarship in 2005 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
