Asia Art Archive is pleased to welcome Marie-Claude on the 1 December 2007 to introduce her work at Mudam.

Born in Besancon, France, in 1946, Marie-Claude Beaud is the General Director of Mudam Luxembourg. Refusing to compartmentalize, she is interested in contemporary art just as much as in decorative art, comic strips, graphic art, architecture, music, fashion, or photography, a field that she particularly admires. Over the span of her entire career, she has favoured blends, confrontations and juxtapositions.

Throughout the past 40 years, Marie-Claude devoted herself to curating and art management in various important art museums and art organizations in France. As the director of the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art from 1984 to 1994, she set up residences for artists, presented a specialized programme of live shows and organized thematic exhibitions of considerable size such as the exhibition in 1990 on the links between Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground. In January 2000, she was invited to manage the Mudam in Luxembourg, a new project for a museum rooted in things contemporary. As the commissioner for Luxembourg at the Venice Biennales of 2001 and 2003, Marie-Claude won the Lion d’Or award in 2003 for best national participation.

Mudam has a rich collection of art works from all around the world including Asia. They have exhibited the works of Kyoichi Tsuzuki in the exhibition 'Happy Victims' and Cai Guoqiang in the frame of the opening exhibition 'Eldorado', Shaoxiong Chen in the exhibition 'Tomorrow Now', and are preparing an exhibition of Chinese artists in 2008.
