Facilitated by curator Yen Yi Lee from AFSAR (Asian Feminist Studio for Art and Research), this workshop explores the visual culture of women’s movements in South Asia through poster-making and collective learning.

Posters have been instrumental within the women’s movements in South Asia for their clarity of visual language and reproducibility, facilitating communication and the mobilisation of diverse communities to advocate for gender justice. In dialogue with Lala Rukh and Sheba Chhachhi’s posters on display in AAA’s current exhibition In Our Own Backyard, this workshop focuses on the act of poster-making and its continuous impact on feminist histories around Asia.

Following a guided tour of the exhibition, Lee invites participants to reflect on the production and circulation of posters. Afterwards, participants create their own posters that explore the intersection of feminism and art-making today.

Free and open to the public with registration. The workshop is conducted in English. All required materials are provided.

This workshop is limited to fifteen participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
