Reinvent: 2016 Summer Camp & Mentorship Programme is a two-part programme led by artist facilitators Lee Kai Chung, Mak Ying Tung, Chloe Wong, and a group of university volunteers. Participants are invited to engage in artistic experiences that re-examine the past to unlock their hidden potential.

Secondary 6 students who have recently received their Secondary Education Diploma in Hong Kong are welcome.

Part 1: Summer Camp

The three artist facilitators provide experimental and experiential art activities that question and reflect on preset assumptions around identity, value, relationships, and artistic concepts. About the artist facilitators:
Lee Kai Chung
researches historical events, political systems, and ideology. Lee addresses the lack of proper governance on records and pending legislation of Archives Law. Through performance, documentation, and installation, Lee considers individual gestures as a form of political and artistic transgression that resonates with pre-existing narratives of history and story. In his ongoing research, ‘Archive of the People’, Lee investigates the frameworks of such socio-political issues, whether through a series of negotiations or encounters with governmental departments.

Mak Ying Tung was educated at the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong, majoring in Critical Intermedia Art. Her work examines the fundamental properties of familiar objects and materials. Working in sculpture and performance, she reforms objects and situations as sources of humour and curiosity, including in her recent solo show through her works No I insist (2014) and No One Wins (2014). Her deadpan presentations prompt a review of the perceived world and to look at what lies beneath the surface of surroundings.

Chloe Wong graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in Contemporary Dance. She was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship for a MA programme jointly organised by the Hollins University and American Dance Festival (ADF) in the US. Wong represented Hollins University at the 2006 Monaco Dance Forum. Wong is a freelancer, and currently teaches at HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, HKAPA (APL course).
