Red Indians

This work is from the Re-take of Amrita series.

Amrita Sher-Gil, of mixed Hungarian and Sikh parentage, spent her early childhood and youth in Hungary with her family. Her uncle, a well-known Indologist, also studied the customs of 'Red Indians' and organised camps on the banks of the Danube. In this photograph, we see Amrita and her relatives playing Indian.
