This interview is part of Hong Kong Art History Research Project – Phase II, a collaboration between Asia Art Archive and Hong Kong Museum of Art. It was conducted at Asia Art Archive on 28 January 2014.

Biography:
Jacques Bouhet (b. 1943, Paris, France)

Jacques Bouhet moved to Hong Kong in 1979. As the Director of Société Générale in Hong Kong, he opened up the bank's space in Landmark, a commercial building in Central District, for about 12–15 exhibitions each year. The shows were managed by Arts Promotion, an influential gallery and art consultancy founded by Sandra Walters and which predominantly showed artists from France and Hong Kong.

In this interview, Bouhet shares his experience of collaborating with Sandra Walters to give visibility to early career artists at one of Hong Kong's prime properties. He offers an unusual perspective: a corporate patron whose support was pivotal in providing an exhibition platform.

Bouhet lives in Paris.
