This is the catalogue for the exhibition ‘Immutability and Fashion: Chinese Contemporary Art in the Midst of Changing Surroundings’. Since the early 1980s, Chinese society has been reconstructed at a furious pace. The works presented here are concerned with the artists’ surrounding society and environment, as well as the question of how to establish a connection with the world ‘here and now’.
