Laurence Tam wrote in the introduction, 'Constance Chang started painting in a style of her own more than thirty years ago. All these years she has maintained the use of Chinese ink as the main medium in painting. Her paintings, whether they are representational or non-representational, abstract or semi-abstract, convery to us a strong sense of modernity. At present, she is a senior artist active on the western coast of the United States of America, well respected for her devotion in pursuit of a new direction of Chinese ink painting.'
