A report on the briefing session by the advisory board of the Museum Committee of Hong Kong Government Home Affairs Bureau, which was held on February 21, 2006. The Museum Committee has 22 non-governmental members, who represent various local industries and groups such as banking, education, architecture, and commerce. Questions such as how to increase the number of visitors to local museums and what is a museum unique to Hong Kong were discussed. The author questions the Committee's apathy towards developing museums'cultural and academic research functions.
