The catalogue was published in conjunction with the retrospective exhibition of Irene Chou's works shown at Asia Society Hong Kong Center. The exhibition is the first worldwide solo exhibition since the artist's passing in 2011 and presents over forty iconic paintings. It is also the third installment of Asia Society Hong Kong Center's 20th Century Chinese Female Artist Series. According to the foreword, the 'career-spanning retrospective showcases a life of artistic innovation, and shares the story of a brilliantly determined artist at the forefront of Hong Kong's New Ink Painting Movement.'
The book includes reproduced photographs of the featured artwork as well as the artist's personal photographs, essays on Irene Chou, her chronology, as well as reproductions of the seals she used in her work.
