This catalogue is published on the occasion of the titled exhibition held at the Seoul Museum of Art, November 2009 to February 2010. It features new three-dimensional art that challenges the conventional notion of sculpture as stable, solid mass. Curator Kim Woo-im refers to this tendency as 'de-sculpturization'. The exhibition is divided into three sections: The Operation of Force-Unstable, presenting works that resist gravity and tension; Material Imagination and Objects_Trivial, which brings together works that employ discarded objects and softened matter; and Vaporizing Sculpture_Fluid, consisting of variable, fluid works that use elements such as air, light, and water. Artist biographies are provided, mostly in Korean.
