It is the catalogue published in conjunction with the solo exhibition by Akio Igarashi at the Base Gallery from 11 November to 7 December 1996.
'It seems that Igarashi's works imply two diverse features, "monochrome" and "achrome." Therefore, they can never be simply situated as white monochroic painting. Such a consciousness of substantiality of painting of paints is recognized in his former series of color panel painted with finger. By the touch of finger, the material character of paints is more directly expressed. Hereupon, paints are presumably never mere media representing colors.'
