The catalogue for the multimedia installation of Kamol Phaosavasdi entitled Between Hopeful and Hopeless. An artist statement and biography are included.
"During the last summer, I had spent my days in Surin Islands...I visited "Morgan" primitive islanders. It's a pity that the local government now arrange them to live like town people and their purified cultures are gradually gone. As an artist I feel depressed of what flooded civilisation has done to them....There is no choice but only the governed regulations for them and it is called as "New Hope". Who is going to say what is hopeless and hopeful for all human beings? It comes to me with the first idea of "Sound Performance" which is uncontrollable, indirection and non-arranged....." - excerpt from the artist statement.
