Reporting on the first privately funded nationwide contest - Loretta Lee Nationwide Youth Oil Painting Competition - initiated by Lee of Carsan Textiles Factory in the Southern Industrial town of Shunde. The rationale is to 1) help young, emerging artists in China; 2) improve the work environment of the workers in the factory; 3) set an example in China in terms of caring for the workers' wellbeings and contributing to the community. This feature also includes conversations with the workers and the artist who won the prize: Guo Hongwei.
