' ...Agus Suwage seems trying to show us a scanning result containing ideas about a continuous reproduction of the self. He always gives us oppurtunity to recognize once again his whole body as a problem. He also likes to show his body from the left or right sides and from behind. And he never forgets his own face that ultimately is not containing a reference to a self (-portrait) but to a struggle of images, appearance of ironies, wickedness of power and skillful parodies. He makes his face awful by pouring down the face with colors that create an imperfect mask, to remind us of beauty that may come out of a machine'. - Hendro Wiyanto, Curator.
