This catalogue was produced for the exhibition entitled 'Common Sense' held in October 2009 in Jakarta. According to the curator, the artworks in this exhibition reflect different ideas of culture in the social context as a result of modernity.
'A culture, while it is being lived, is always in part unknown, in part unrealized. Making a culture as "belonging" of a community is therefore always an exploration, as consciousness cannot precede the whole experience of its practices. In such a mechanism, art expressions liberate and even continuously invigorate the [expressions of] culture from the efforts to affirm itself within the limitations of descriptive and logical definitions.' (from back cover)
Includes plates of all art works displayed, as well as biographies of all artists represented in the exhibition.
