Each year the Prince Claus Fund honour individuals of outstanding merit in different parts of the world in need of funding to fulfill their mission of cultural development. The 2008 theme for the Prince Claus Award was 'Culture and the Human Body'. The 2008 Laureates through their works have offered provocative interpretations on the values one places and expresses through the human body and its impact on society. The Principal Prince Claus Award was given to Indira Goswami from India for her influential social and cultural activism through the medium of literature. Amongst the other Laureates there are four other Asian artists; Li Xianting from China, Ma Ke from China, Venerable Purevbat from Mongolia, and Dayanita Singh from India.

Mentioned below are the five essays written on these artists.
