In the summer of 1971, as the promised talk between the government and the impoverished residents of Gwangju was cancelled, people attacked the police office and stood up against the brutal government policy. Kim Gisoo's new work, Dae Dan Ji (meaning mass housing complex) is a richly composed project in which video, photographs, objects, drawings, and text are integrated to explore the memory of this historical incident in 1971. With artist biography.
