This monograph features a new series of paintings by Chinese artist, Feng Bin, in which elements of the past and the present collide in terms of both subject and style. By juxtaposing Tibetan temple architecture, painted in rich opaque colours, with hurrying modern-day figures, painted in washes applied with agitated brushstrokes, Feng’s paintings convey the insubstantiality and fleeting nature of man’s existence in modern day living. The accompanying essays and excerpts of commentaries written by noted specialists provide an insightful study of the art of Feng Bin. This monograph also includes a biography and a list of published essays written by Feng.
