Directed by Yao Hungi, this film follows Chinese painter Liu Xiaodong on a return trip to his hometown of Jincheng, a factory town in Liaoning Province, which he left thirty years prior. He visits family, old friends, and familiar places, contemplating the different paths their lives have taken and how times have changed, meanwhile capturing what he has seen on canvas.
