'Hong Kong Cityscapes: Ink Painting in Transition' was presented as a highlight of the Hong Kong Festival held in London in 2002. The exhibition and the present catalogue bring together a number of modern and contemporary artists in Hong Kong who specialise in ink painting. As a uniquely Chinese art form boasting a long tradition that goes back more than a thousand years, these ink paintings, grouped under two sections, 'Mountain and Water: The Immutable Landscape' and 'Skyscrapers and City Dwellers: The Human Landscape', bear witness to the continued development and vigour in the medium. Names of artists and information of the works are also provided in Chinese.
