Huang Hung-Teh has been presenting new paintings on and off the island since his graduation from The National Taiwan Academy of Arts in 1983. His paintings are not easily classified in the category of figurative art nor abstract art, Western nor Eastern art. Art critic and curator Huang Hai-ming describes his paintings in the catalogue essay, 'these seemingly "intentionally nihilistic easy works" involve a very serious, almost harsh self-consciousness and investigation.'
