Cultural critic Brian Wallis contributes a survey text addressing the issues defining Land and Environmental Art within a broader art historical context, tracing its aesthetic, conceptual and socio-political meanings. Over 250 works spanning five decades as well as an archive of statements by artists featured and texts by art historians, critics, philosophers and cultural theorists have been compiled by editor Jeffrey Kastner. These key works and key documents are organized chronologically within thematic sections.
Artist and author biographies and bibliographies are included.
