This publication is produced on the occasion of Liu Yonggang's solo exhibition 'Qian Yuan - Liu Yonggang's Solo Show' at Shanghai Art Museum, from November to December 2009.
In his new body of work, Liu demonstrates new signals by combining linear abstract and writing expression. Yin Shuangxi notes that Liu's works in 2009 present the cross-cultural insight and self-identity of his own culture, allowing him to transcend the Western abstract art into 'well-developed painting style of his own.'
