'media_city seoul 2000' is a multi-media festival that celebrates the intersections among the arts, technology and industry. It is envisioned as the first of a biennial event. The most visible programme is devoted to media arts and comprises 'Media Art 2000', 'City Vision/Clip City', and 'The Subway Project'. The second, titled 'Digital Alice', is an educational programme for children. The third programme, 'Media Entertainment', introduces new technologies and software programmes developed by the multimedia entertainment industry. The highlight of 'media_city seoul 2000' is the multimedia art, which is divided among three different venues that are thematically interconnected. This inaugural biennial took place from 2 September through 31October 2000 at the Seoul Metropolitan Museum, and various electronic billboards and subway stations throughout Seoul.
