The exhibition Photography in Contemporary Art aims to reveal the interrelationship of contemporary art and photography.

On top of photographic items by Japanese artists, works by some of the most renowned western artists including Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Andy Warhol, John Baldessari, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Victor Burgin, Jan Dibbets, Ger van Elk, Hamish Fulton, Gilbert & George, Hans Haacke, Joseph Kosuth, Barbara Kruger and Richard Long were also displayed.

Images and descriptions of the exhibited works, bibliographies of the artists, plus four critical essays concerning the relation between contemporary art and photography are featured in the catalogue.
