Created as an experimental forum for all things related to the communication and production of contemporary art, 'Platform' began in 2006 as an annual contemporary art festival featuring a major exhibit accompanied by video and film screenings, performances, lectures, talks with artists, symposia, and public programs and is presently slated to be held each year up to 2010. Planned and directed by Sunjung Kim, an independent international curator, 'Platform' is organized around a different theme each year by SAMUSO, which explores new forms of exhibiting art by offering diverse contemporary art and cultural contents. 'Platform 2008' features works where the theatrical elements of contemporary art, in other words, non-material forms and acts, are conceptually tied to time and space. Essays by Kim Sunjung, Sumitomo Fumihiko and Park Sohyun are provided in the present catalogue.
