This article gives background information on the artist at the center of the Baroda Incident.  Chandra Mohan, a final year post-graduate student from a lower middle-class family from a village near Hyderabad, is a Lalit Kala Akademi award winner.  He is described as quiet and skilled.  The moral brigade objected to his Durga Slaying Crustacean, The Beautiful Vexation, and an untitled crucifixion.
