Catalogue of Sachin Karne's solo exhibition at Sakshi Gallery in 2005. Featured in the catalogue are oil paintings inspired by the artist's visit to Amsterdam. Nilanjana Bhattacharjee wrote, 'This body of work began with an opportunity to visit Amsterdam over a period of six months and reached completion after returning to India, hence the division of the paintings into two groups with Rembrandt's Nightwatch and the Boddhisattva Padmapani of Ajanta as backgraound images. In his visit abroad, Sachin was struck by the vast differences in social conditioning of western society where the existence of sexuality in its various forms and socio-cultural diversity are accepted. Intolerance of diversity seems to have become a hallmark of Indian society in recent times. Rather than being didactic in his approach, Sachin prefers to infuse rasa and emotions into his work to draw in the viewer and convey his sense of insecurity and helplessness with the intolerant social conflicts of today.' Artist biography is included in the catalogue.
