This monograph of Pakistani born artist Shahzia Sikander accompanies her first solo exhibition in Europe entitled 'Shahzia Sikander' which was held from March to May 2007 at Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin. The exhibition provides a brief overview of the artist's career, but put the focus mainly on her new work. Artist biography and bibliography included.
'Over the past fifteen years, Shahzia Sikander has worked within the tradition of Indo-Persian miniature painting - creating a dialogue with a traditional form of art while engaging in a transformative task. Over the years, she has built a practice which seeks to understand miniature painting's historical significance as well as its contemporary relevance. This artist's book brings the reader through her practice which now embraces various media, from drawing and painting through to animations.' (Back Cover of the book)
