This publication contains Tadashi Kawamata's proposals for his Toyota Project which began in the summer of 1999. Yoko Nose wrote, 'When conceiving a project, Kawamata takes a stand in the present, examines the history lived by a region, and then turns to its future. A Kawamata installation reflects the social issues a region must grapple with, yet not simply in giving a warning. The installation casts new light on those problems, while always making us feel it has some positive social function.' Also included in the book are artist biography, and a dialogue between Masahiro Aoki and the artist.
