It is a monography by Taro Shinoda. Artist statement and biography(in Japanese only) are included.
Shinoda shares with the dominant sensibility of his generation who grew up with plastic models and metal toys, a fascination with the pseudo-mysticism disseminated through the 1960s and the 1970s popular media, as well as a taste for metallic beauty, and the aesthetics of polishing, cutting and joining metallic and plastic materials. Such young Japanese new Pop artists aspire to create a virtual world filled with orginal machines that mix toys with technology, Shinoda retains lyricism in his world, evoking the memory of his infancy-more explicitly, his longing for the maternal body.
