This catalogue accompanied the art project by Toru Koyamada, which was carried out as part of Asahi Art Festival 2004. The exhibition was inspired by works of Yu Takita (1932-90), a manga artist from the Mukojima district of Sumida, Tokyo. Koyamada assembled a large number of original drawings and books by Takita, whose intricate works convey the atmosphere of the early Showa period, introducing a world that has a powerful feel-good factor for everyone, despite its idiosyncrasies. During the period of the exhibition, Koyamada also organised fieldwork sessions, walking around the Sumida area with people of a generation who do not know Takita and the era lived by him in order to compare the scenes of Takita's works with Sumida as it is today. The catalogue includes a text by Koyamada as well as descriptions and results of the fieldwork. It also includes biographies of both Takita and Koyamada.
