This catalogue is produced in occasion of the exhibition 'Tools and Practices: Change and Continuity in the Cambodian Countryside' held by Reyum Institute of Arts and Culture, Phnom Penh, in March-May 2001. The exhibition shows the result of a research project conducted by Preap Chan Mara, Chourn Bunnath, Van Sovanny and students of the Faculty of Archaeology, Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. By researching, describing and recording some of the tools and instruments of the Cambodian countryside, the project elaborates the specific social, cultural, and artistic meanings embodied in such hand implements. The project is supported by the Japan Foundation, the Kasumisou Foundation, and the Albert Kunstadter Family Foundation.
