This publication was published on the occasion of the first multi-media exhibition of Wang Jianwei at ARARIO Beijing in 2006. The concept of "flying bird is motionless" derives from a hypothesis of the Greek philosopher Zenon, who stated that time is made of many small moments. Thus, when a bird is flying it is actually not moving. The other part of the exhibition comes from Shuanglong Hui (Double Dragons), a canonic story of heroism in Chinese history. In the artist's own words, 'The concept of "flying bird is motionless" gives me a new approach and a new understanding of a "process". It allows me, through the means of re-consturucting an "event", to experiment with a kind of new connection, including the connection to today's society and to contemporary art.
