Yang Yong is considered to be one of the most outstanding photographers in China. His works focusses on the phenomenally rapid urbanisation and urban expansion in the country. Born and brought up in Sichuan, Yang Yong moved to Shenzhen in the early 1990s. For the last ten years, he has been obsessively producing photographic portraits of the populations in this brand new city. He particularly probes into the world of young people who have been growing up together with the city itself. The present monograph of Yang Yong features works produced during the period 2003-2006. With artist statement, biography of Yang and short texts by Charlotte Cotton and Yu Miao.
