This monograph concerns Japanese female artist Yayoi Kusama. It is also a second edition of a catalogue of the artist's solo exhibition at the Victoria Miro Gallery in 2008.
Divided into two parts, this publication put emphasis on the importance of continuous, almost infinite process of mark making on canvas, as opposed to the expansive gestures of her peers from Japan or American abstract painters. Another point of focus is on the deployment of her body as she needs to concentrate and make use of her body to complete her dot and net paintings, constructing a counter-narrative to the male spontaneous body.
Includes a biography of the artist.
