This publication is produced in conjunction with Malaysian artist, Yee I-Lann's solo exhibition 'Yee I-Lann: Fluid World' at Taipei's Mind Set Art Consulting, from late August to mid September 2011.

The artist explores the cultural identity through her works via pop culture, city landscape and daily life. Simon Soon notes in his essay that, I-Lann investigates into the interwoven concerns around notions of historical trade, social hierarchy, piracy and resistance in her latest body of work the Orang Besaar Series (2010). 'This theatre of Southeast Asia is then set against the backdrop of her earlier practice in the Kinabalu Series (2007) and Malaysiana Installation (2011) that examines particular and hybrid notions of culture.' The book also presents I-Lann's earlier works from 2002 to 2005.

Artist biography included.
