This issue features a study of new media in contemporary Chinese art and culture. Essays, and papers presented in the symposiums, Envisioning the Future of Contemporary Art from Different 'Glocal' Positions, held in Hangzhou in March 2004, and An International Discourse on New Chinese Video and Photography, held in San Diego Museum of Art, provide an exploration of the popularisation of the use of new media among artists in China.
