This catalogue was published on the occasion of a Yokoyama Taikan retrospective commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's death, held at The National Art Center, Tokyo.   The exhibition presented a selection of major works by Taikan, including The Wheel of Life (The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo), Autumn Maples (Adachi Museum of Art),  Cherry Blossoms at Night (The Okura Cultural Foundation), and works from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.   The publication offers a detailed catalogue of all the exhibited works and a timeline of the artist's life in Japanese, with introductory essays in English.
