Catalogue of joint exhibition held at doART Seoul in 2008. B-Side, as a term used in music and records, designates non-commercial songs which are not included in a regular album, or A-Side of the album. In esscence, the B Side amplifies the effects and understanding of the A Side, thus creating a complete and unitary form. With the title 'B-Side', the exhibition allows artists to show aspects of their work that are not presented in normal circumstances. B-Side is a channel by which artists can reveal their hidden thoughts to viewers, without the stress of public expectation and the pressure to achieve commercial success. According to curator Kim Sungwon, 'Here, smooth dissolutions, quiet challenges, meditative crises, repressed freedoms, and uncertain faiths are allowed to take place in a context where unnecessary stress is replaced by pleasure and freedom from restrictions.' Artist biographies are provided in the present catalogue.
