Catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Narahara Ikko: Domains' at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo from November 2014 to March 2015. Narahara's work 'Domains' was compiled into photobooks twice in 1971 and 1978 with different structures. This catalogue follows the structure nearly the same as that of the 1978 book.
'Narahara Ikko (b. 1931) is one of the leading photographers in postwar Japan. First published in 1958, his Domains focused on human beings in a monastery in Hokkaido and a female prison in Wakayama Prefecture, both isolated from the external world.
