This is the catalogue for Hsiao Yi's solo exhibition at Lin & Keng Gallery (Taiwan) in 1999. All the works featured here are figurative (mainly) sculptures made of iron rods. When compare to his earlier works which are solid, smoothly rendered figures made of wood, the pieces presented here are openworks composed of iron rods with an unfinished quality. In the view of art hisorian and curator Jason Wang, the artist has made a great step in his art; he has 'transgressed the tradition and customs he used to belong by setting off different spatial thinking into his own sculptures'.
