Published on the occasion of the solo exhibition of Indonesian artist Nyoman Masriadi at the Singapore Art Museum, from August to November 2008. It includes over 30 paintings produced over the last decade, presented in four thematic sections. They explore the development of Masriadi's signature black figures, his self-consciousness as a painter in relation to the art world, the capacity of his works to provoke audiences through the use of visual wit and humour, as well as the power dynamics between his figures, often portrayed in settings where competition and rivalry are heightened, such as in the world of sports.

Includes curatorial essay and artist biography.
