Nude (Detail)

In the early 1980s the thematic range of Vu Dan Tan's art had been limited to portraits, self-portraits, bathers and nudes. The most diagnostic feature in his paintings during this period is a nude sitting on a carpet next to an obscure male figure, or with a tiger in the background.

This painting is among the early works by Vu Dan Tan in the 1970s and 1980s. The collection from this period ranges from drawings and paintings to masks made of natural or recycled materials.
